Lemon and Chocolate Dessert Table

It is very easy to create a dessert table for a ladies event or when the guest of honor is a female. Think pink, ruffles, flowers and colors that are on the fashion runways in New York and it is pretty easy.  It also helps that I am a girl.  The challenge is when I am approached to create a dessert table for a male.  Hmm….so I had to put on my thinking cap and start to do some research.  Since my client did not like chocolate and berries together I decided on a lemon yellow and chocolate dessert table.  The lemon color would keep the table bright and crisp and the chocolate would give me some depth and dimension.

The Menu: White Chocolate Cake with Ruffle Swiss Meringue Buttercream, Chocolate Expresso Cake, Expresso Mousse Cups, Lemon Cream Puff Sliders, Lemon Meringue Tarts, White Chocolate Covered Oreo Cookies, Marscapone & Lemoncello Shooters.

The techique for the Swiss Meringue Buttercream recipe can be found here on Martha Stewart’s website.  A You Tube technique can also be found by Melody from Sweet & Saucy Shop in California.  This is a beautiful technique that takes some time but is very forgiving and it looks absolutely stunning for anyone’s birthday.
